Education

A commitment to education is at the heart of the National Audubon Society tradition. As the local chapter for Chatham, Durham, and Orange Counties, the New Hope Audubon Society embraces this commitment and aligns the Society’s conservation focus with the goal of educating and engaging youth – our future conservation stewards – to instill in them an understanding of and an appreciation for wildlife and nature. Our active and engaged Education Committee offers interactive programs focusing on birds and the environment for youth in our three county area using local libraries and community centers as the venue; engages youth and families in family bird walks; provides classroom instruction at local schools upon request; and provides educational exhibits at fairs and community events. Because education is a lifelong journey, we also offer resources and courses for people of all ages who want to learn about conservation and discover the joys of birding.
